An old path is left behind, and a new one has opened.
After 6 years of waiting a compatible kidney was found,
and after the transplant surgery and 10 days of interment I'm finally at home recovering.
Feels strange suddenly leaving a routine I had to keep for so so long, but at the same time I can't describe how relieved I am. A huge boulder was taken off my shoulders.
Only my parents know what I went through all these years, and for their constant support I'll be forever grateful, aswell as the transplant team and post surgery treatment who helped me to a quick recovery.
Also relatives whom I didn't even know immediately showed up to aid me and my parents too, I am indeed blessed with a caring and supportive family.
Now things have changed. Now I can eat normally!
Left behind is the strict diet. Left behind is the sword of Damocles looming over my head every checkup. Left behind the huge medication bill.
The new kidney couldn't be better. It started working immediately without any problem and swiftly cleaned up the toxic mess in my blood.
My recovery is going good, better than good actually and for the first time in years I see a cloudless future ahead of me.
Now, I can't stress enough how important is to always keep an eye on your kidneys's health.
How important is to keep a healthy life, how important is to have a healthy diet and exercise often. And of course doing a kidney function checkup at least every 6 months. Kidney diseases are silent and don't show symptoms until its too late, don't wait for it.
So tl;dr I was transplanted, I'm recovering fine and I'll get back to scratch the tablet soon.
See you around!
